I read Enemy of God by Bernard Cornwell, and I absolutely loved it! Cornwell is a master storyteller, and I was gripped from beginning to end. What I found most fascinating is how he presents a more "realistic" take on the Arthurian legend, portraying what might have truly happened if Arthur had existed. The novel includes familiar figures and elements from the legend—Merlin, Excalibur, the Round Table oath, Camelot, Lancelot, Tristan, and the ongoing struggle against the Saxons. Arthur himself is depicted as a just leader, committed to Britain’s future. However, what sets this book apart is its grounded and plausible approach, blending historical realism with subtle touches of druid magic and British mysticism. An outstanding read for anyone who enjoys historical fiction or a fresh perspective on the Arthurian myths!
