My 7-year-old son and I are loving this series. He begs to read Humphrey every day. I am looking forward to sharing these with my third graders as well.My 9 year old niece absolutely loves Humphrey. She is reading the books faster than I can get them delivered. She gets so absorbed while reading. I started getting these books as a Thank You for helping Auntie with chores.We haven't read all the books yet, but my kids love Humphrey! These are the first books that my 4 (almost 5) year old will actually sit still and listen to the story. My 7 year old struggles a little with reading and these books have really give incentive to read more. Even I enjoy the stories. I like that these books touch on a lot of social issues young children may encounter in a way that they can relate to. We talk a lot about the different characters and issues in the book, and often it leads to conversations about similar situations my 7 year old has encountered in school that we may have otherwise never talked about.My son had to read these books as part of his summer reading list. He completed the first one and couldn't wait for the others. That being said, for a very imaginative, short-attention span and active 8 year old, the books were a hit. I now have to buy the entire collection. In fact, I read the first book (mainly because I had to confirm the info in his book report). Surprisingly though, I enjoyed the book myself.Humphrey is a adorable hamster and you get to share his adventures with 12 books.The content of these books is not bad, but the use of potty language turned us off. Many don't mind this type of humor. Our children don't have it used in front of them so our son actually didn't want to keep reading after he had read about "poop" a couple of times. I think these are pretty decent reading, though, otherwise. They came highly recommended by a librarian. I am bummed we wasted the money on them, but we will find them a new and happier home.This gift set is the best price for three books! I've been looking for some books for my niece that is 8, something that will entertain her and teach her some good stuff too. She loves these books and is starting to collect them. She reads them everyday and now loves to take care of her pet. This little character is so cute! They also came in a box set sealed in the amazon box. Shipping was insanely fast! It was left by my doorstep and I was so excited to see them come in so quickly! I will definitely be buying more of these Humphrey books.Bought these as a birthday gift for my nephew and he loves them!My child loves these books. they are brilliantly written.My 10 year old grandson loves these books. And his parents love that he wants to read instead of playing video games!! And grandma loves that she got the perfect gift for him.
